R+J is set in the border-state of Kentucky in 1863 during the American Civil War. Romeo, son of the former-slave Montague’s, meets Juliet, daughter of the Confederate Capulet’s.

A jealous king tears his family and kingdom apart. Can he repair it with the power of forgiveness and faith in a magic oracle? This is one of Shakespeare’s best works featuring a tyrannous king, a wronged queen, a lost princess, young lovers, a statue come to life – an of course – A BEAR!

This is being presented as part of HSC’s annual “Shakespeare in the Schools Program”. This is a condensed version being presented with a small cast, who are all playing multiple roles.
