Promised Land explores the relationship between Soviet immigrants Ida and Lev Brodsky, a married couple who find themselves identity-less in their mid-fifties. In their small apartment in Brooklyn, where the heater never works, Ida and Lev tiptoe around the ghosts of past memories. When Ida’s sister Riva arrives unexpectedly, Ida and Lev are forced to confront their forgotten Jewish identities, their grief, and each other.
